Women In Technology

JMU D.I.G.I.T.A.L

DIGITAL stands for Dukes Inspiring Girls Into Technology Across Limits. It is an annual program run by Women in Technology that invites young girls from the Harrisonburg school system to come to JMU to learn about technology. Since technological careers are still highly dominated by men it is important to show young women the possibilities for them in these careers and to encourage them to pursue a career in technology.

On October 19, 2019, DIGITAL was held at JMU and hosted by the Women In Technology club with the support of the JMU Computer Science and Integrated Science and Technology Departments. Middle and high school students in attendance had the opportunity to attend three different stations throughout the day, eat lunch while listening to a panel and asking their own questions to women who are involved in technology, and complete a project related to the station of their choice.
